Bus Tickets

Doune the Rabbit Hole happens on the Cardross Estate in Port of Menteith. If you are driving please buy your parking ticket here. SatNav = FK8 3JY.

It’s beautiful but quite remote so the easiest and friendliest way to join us is on the Doune Bus. We’ve either reduced or kept prices the same as last year and timed the Stirling buses to meet popular trains from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. There are also direct buses from and to Glasgow.

Glasgow:

We offer direct buses from and to City Chambers on George Street near Queen Street station in Glasgow city centre. The price is £12 for an early bird daytime single. Direct buses run at the following times:

  • Thursday (CREW ONLY): 18:00 from Glasgow to Doune
  • Friday: 13:00 from Glasgow to Doune.
  • Friday: 18:00 from Glasgow to Doune.
  • Saturday: 10:45 from Glasgow to Doune.
  • Saturday: 23:15 from Doune to Glasgow.
  • Sunday: 22:00 from Doune to Glasgow.
  • Monday: 01:15 from Doune to Glasgow (late night bus leaves after music finishes).
  • Monday: 13:00 from Doune to Glasgow.

If the times do not suit then you can also catch any of the following trains to Stirling and catch the £5 bus from there:

  • Thursday (CREW ONLY): Catch the 18:11 from Queen Street to meet the 19:00 Stirling bus.
  • Friday: Catch the 13:48 from Queen Street to meet the 15:00 Stirling bus
  • Friday: Catch the 18:11 from Queen Street to meet the 19:00 Stirling bus.
  • Sunday: Book onto the 20:45 bus to Stirling to catch the 21:44 train to Glasgow.
  • Monday: Book onto the 12:00 bus to Stirling to catch the 12:53 train to Glasgow.

Departure points:

Please catch the Glasgow bus outside City Chambers on George Street. The Stirling bus will be just outside the railway station. These locations have been chosen because they are easy walking distance from bus and train stations (see maps below). All return buses leave from the Doune bus stop which is close to where you pick up your wristband.

Turn right when you come out of Stirling railway station and there is a bus stop about 100m along Goosecroft Road:

Doune the Rabbit Hole drop off and pick up points: NEW
The direction of traffic on site is being reversed this year so the bus stop is moving.
You will be dropped just before the new box office location.
The pick up point is slightly further along the track at the lay-by outside the big house (see pic)
Zeb or Adrian will be at the pick up point to scan you onto the bus.

Children must buy tickets:

Buses are just like every other vehicle; they are designed, licensed and insured to carry a specific number of people in designated seats. Sitting your child on your lap is not permitted – the driver can be prosecuted and risks losing his driving licence, job and livelihood. Children are humans beings so must have their own seat and consequently you must buy a ticket for them.

The Doune Bus Ticketing System:

  • Immediately generates and sends a scannable PDF e-Ticket to the email address given for each seat.
  • So even if you buy your tickets together you do NOT need to travel on the same buses.
  • And you can easily change the name of a passenger on-line, see below.
  • You can print them or display them using the Eventbrite app on the screen of your iPhone or Android.
  • The driver will scan your printed ticket or phone screen for instant confirmation that the ticket is valid.
  • This will allow us to book extra buses more easily and speed up boarding.
  • It’s fully automatic so you won’t be waiting for an over-worked admin monkey to email confirmation.

Single Tickets: To offer you maximum flexibility we only sell single tickets. One way or return, come from Stirling and go to Glasgow. Select whichever buses suit you.

The Late Night Service: If you need to get back but don’t want to miss any of the action we offer a Late Night Service to Glasgow. It departs 15 minutes after the music finishes on Sunday night; the late night bus leaves Doune at 01:15. This bus costs slightly more because it’s in the middle of the night – please be nice to the driver, he’s got to go all the way back to Ayrshire after dropping you off.

Early Bird Tickets: Low price tickets from and to Glasgow and subsidised £5 tickets from and to Stirling are available until midday on Friday one week before Doune the Rabbit Hole. After that the prices automatically change because that is when we need to confirm the bus bookings in order to qualify for the lower prices.

Late Bird Tickets: Subject to availability tickets will still be on sale in the week running up to the event but cost £1.50-2 more. Ticket prices will automatically change at 12 noon on Friday one week before the event.

Walk Up Tickets: Subject to availability tickets can be purchased on your smart phone whilst stood beside the bus. Please be warned that the last few seats always go quickly and once tickets are sold out they automatically go off sale. However, it is quite normal for up to 5 people to miss the bus. Any unclaimed seats can be purchased from the driver for £8 (Stirling), £15 (Glasgow) or £20 (late night Glasgow).

Waiting List: The new system allows us to easily monitor sales and book larger buses where possible. So you may notice that the number of available tickets goes up as well as down. However, once all the seats on the largest available bus have been sold then sales will stop but the waiting list will automatically activate. As soon as enough people join the waiting list we will try to book an extra bus. You will then be emailed an invitation to pay for your seat on the new bus. It is less expensive and much more likely that you will get a seat on the bus if you book at least 1 week in advance .

Important: Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for stowing luggage and boarding. Food and drink are not permitted to be consumed on board.

How do I change the details on a ticket or resend it to myself?:

1) Go to the Eventbrite website.
2) Log into or create an account using the email address you used to buy the ticket.
3) Select My Tickets from the drop down menu below your name.
4) Click on the Doune the Rabbit Hole Bus icon.
5) Click Edit Details for the ticket you wish to alter and fill in the new details.
6) Tick the Send email confirmation to new attendee box if you want a new ticket by email.
7) Click on the green Save button to register the new details.

PLEASE NOTE: Only the original buyer has admin control over tickets.

Transferring to a different bus: It is now possible to transfer your ticket onto a different bus if there is space. You must pay £1 plus any difference in the cost of the ticket. Follow the instructions but click on Transfer rather than Edit. Transfers are only available until the day before the first bus for that event.
