Crooq exist somewhere at the intersection of hip-hop, jazz and feverish smoothie consumption. Offering relentless groove, big hooks, warm tones and a healthy dose of loud, Crooq are set for a busy 2019.
Based in Glasgow, Scotland, the band spent the latter half of 2018 making themselves known to local audiences with some barnstorming outings: headlining a capacity Bar Bloc in collaboration with hip-hop label ‘Handpicked Cassette Tapes’ and playing a sold out Art School alongside Scottish tour-de-force ‘Tom McGuire and the Brassholes’, to name but a couple.
2019 dawns with Crooq preparing their first big releases. The band are gathering a team of content managers and videographers around them, and spent Feb’19 in the studio with esteemed Scottish engineer Gus Stirrat finishing off their first two singles, the release of which will truly announce Crooq’s arrival.
Crooq are Paul Copeland (keyboards), Ben Deans (bass guitar/samples), Robert McArthur (guitar), Matt Sim (drums) and Owen Sutcliffe (vocals); a troupe of vagabonds you’d be wise to get to know.
